Since 30 years exactly I´m busy with and occupied by Irish Terriers. They are with me all the time, and are a big part of my life. In 26 years I have bred 24 litters so far, and continued my 7th homebred generation.
This was my vision from the begin in 1979 on: to breed a line that continues to accompany me all my life long and make it become typical RUFUS, my vision of the standard become reality, so that my dogs can be recognized easy. And to breed as healthy and good tempered Irish Terriers as possible, always keeping the standard in mind.
I was so lucky to breed so far 2 very important studdogs with influence not only in Germany, but Europe - Rufus Look at me! (Byron) with 71 offspring, never ever forgotten, and his grandson Rufus Under my Spell (Rufi), 79 offspring now, who is currently (2008) leading Irish Terrier stud dog in Germany. Both males represent a lot of what I wish Irish Terriers to be: noble, proud personalities with charisma, special keep expression, red coats, excellent movers, irish type on them and fantastic companions.
While I do not show very much, I enjoy that my dogs are able to compete successful in the stiffest competitions - for example best german bred/owned male Irish Terrier at the World Winner show 2003 in Dortmund, when Peter Jaspers (NL) handled Byron and he did beat the big favourite Montelle Famous Star. This was a highlight, and also that Byron became 1999 best male No 2 of the swedish Clubshow, leaving a line of Merrymac champions behind, only 10 months old. Or Rufus Rinaldo Rinaldini being BOB at the European Winner Show in Dortmund, beating Crufts Winner among many (36) others. Rufi - the younger brother - won 3 titles, he was only shown in junior class.
There are many more dogs that did take remarkable wins, and I enjoy it, but the most important is for me to continue breeding such good Irish, and being independent from any fashion, only devoted to the Irish Terrier standard and my breeders eye.
